The Zebra Premium Tools 5 Inch 36 Grit Fiber Sanding Disc (Z-F36) is ideal for use on wood, metal, plastics, fiberglass and painted surfaces. It can also be used in wet or dry conditions making it versatile enough to use on different types of projects around the home or office space. This Fiber disc is made of electro statically coated aluminum oxide which gives the best results on a polished surface. The fibers are attached to the backing material with an epoxy resin and baked under pressure at high temperatures. This process allows the fibers to be bonded to the backing at all points and not just along their edges as in some other types of products. Fiber discs are designed for use on metal, glass and plastic. They cut fast but do not remove as much material as a foam pad or disc. The edge will not fray, even if cut against the direction of rotation. These discs are excellent for sanding curves and contours because they conform easily to compound curves and do not tear out like foam pads can do. The edges will not fray so no chipping occurs when cutting into corners or against the grain direction of hard woods like oak or maple.
